Heather’s favorite superhero is Thor, but she also enjoys watching Winnie the Pooh and the Princess Diaries. Make no mistake about it though, Master “Yabi” is one tough cookie despite her fear of snakes. She’s snorkeled with turtles and also enjoys listening to country music (Reba Mcentire). She dreams about having a gelato in Italy one day.

My name is Heather Theiss. I am a 1st Degree Black Belt and an Assistant Instructor with ACTIVSTARS. I earned my Black Belt in 2016 through the ACTIVSTARS Program. I was a student at the UMKC School of Nursing and graduated in 2017 with my BSN and I currently work as a Registered Nurse at Research Medical Center. I am certified in Concussion Protocol and CPR Basic Life Support with AED training. I am proficient with Broadsword, Twin Broadsword, Broadsword and Shield, Bo Staff, Chinese Fan, Katana, Bokken, and Shuriken Throwing. I enjoy training and teaching with my husband, Jon Theiss, and his family. Working as a part of a family has been a very rewarding experience and I encourage others to try it as there are so many benefits to learning karate as a family.
